Our lives update

Well we made it to round rock and David is really enjoying his new job.  It was nice having him home for a 5 day weekend after his first "week".  We have a tenant who would like to rent our house so that will allow us to find a place of our own pretty soon here.
We are planning to move all our stuff on Friday and we are sooo grateful for the big strong men in my life who are willing to do the hard lifting while I supervise!

Santa!

CIMG7200, originally uploaded by jaclynejohnson.

On Friday we got to see Santa! Alexandra was very excited. We got there early so we didnt have to wait as long as in previous years. She was aprehensive when it was her turn but she went up and climbed in his lap. With big eyes and serious face she forced a smile and chatted a little with Santa. It was all worth the candy cane though!

Videos

We also went bowling for the first time.

And I put a LOT of video clips on You Tube. There is bouncing at the bounce house, a little concert including O Christmas Tree, and the hanging of some christmas ornaments.

Busy

I guess most of you know by now that we are moving! It's so exciting to move back to Austin! And so heartbreaking to leave our home in College Station. This has been a wonderful community to us where we have found support and companionship and had lots of fun. I still can't imagine leaving but we are slowing coming to the reality that instead of decorating the nursery I will be packing boxes.
Alexandra has been having trouble sleeping lately. No napping hardly at all and when she does she is soooo fussy when she wakes up. We are still experimenting to see what schedule will work.
She loooved having her Gramma Susie and Grandpa Steve around. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the Maczuga's in Leander.

She had a great time at the live nativity last Friday.

Then we had a special evening decorating our tree - it will be up for a few weeks:)

It seems that lately her favorite past time is putting her baby doll to sleep and kissing my belly:) She is still excited about being a big sister- we'll see how the reality pans out.
Hopefully Friday we will get to visit Santa- our last Christmas in the Park :(

Felt Someone Moving and Home Decor

Last night I know I felt someone moving! It was very exciting. It is to be expected at this point but I am looking forward to feeling it more pronounced. It is still more like a little poke or thump on the inside. We are also making progress on our preparation front. We have picked some colors for the walls! That's right I am taking the big leap. Amber is going to help me paint the "nursury" :) and Alexandra's room soon. The we move on to curtains and appliques! We saw some really cute ones at Target and at Michaels. Like this. They have many more at the store including one with doggies and kitties. Also a possible crib bedding set that would go with the one we have. I like this one too. Anyway I am having fun planning and dreaming about my babies!

19 Weeks Check Up

We had an doctor appointment today that went very well. She said everything looked good - she did an ultrasound- and was pleased with how the babies were growing. She also confirmed that they are girls:) It's always nice to see everything is going well in there.

Trick or Treat

More photos on Youtube more pics on flickr.
Most of our neighbors were not there to TrickorTreat so we went to the party then came home and gave out candy- she had a blast! So did we all.

Fall Family Fun Night

I know it's not Halloween yet but... she dressed up for our party and I have to say I think her costume was a success. Too late to write more but I have many pics coming soon to flickr.

Vaccines

Many of you probably already know that we have all had the flu vaccine and that Alexandra has had the first of the two for H1N1. We did consider this very heavily and felt that the risk of not taking it was greater. I realize that there is much debate about this subject and I of all people hate the idea of taking drugs when it is not evidence based. Hence my opinions about NFP and natural childbirth. However - I am a fan of tylonol when I have a terrible headache and a big fan of a C-section when I believe it is safer for my baby. This article got me a little heated and I didnt want to put my opinions on facebook:) So if you are interested I think this is a very well written article that tells "the other side".

NEW U/S 17 weeks

We had our 17 week appointment today. Apparently all my pregnancy tickers are wrong because I was going by the size of the baby not last menstrual period which is that they like to use (It was only a few days difference) So we were 6wks 6 days today (instead of 16 wks 1 day like I thought) and now the babies would be due March 29(40 wks) but term for twins in 37 wks so the doctor said March 8!!! If we make it to full term- so if we hit 38 weeks (March 15) we will schedule a C-section and have some babies. Wowee! So that's a little less than 5 months away!!! Are you with me here!! wowee! So anyway they looked good and healthy and its good they have separate sacs and placentas- and the U/S tech thought they were both GIRLS :) I met someone today who had girls in separate sacs and placentas and everyone thinks they are identical:) Anyway we are excited. Plus look at those cute little skulls :)
Our doctor was wonderful and answered all my "what if" questions and was really reassuring.
I went to my first moms of twins group today:) it was fun to hear all the stories. And nice to see they are still surviving.

What a Week

I think that knowing there are two babies has made me even more tired!  I have so many errands and thing I need to do but I feel like all I can manage is dinner and work. And I'm supposed to be playing softball at 10:15pm! Yowza. Anyway fortunately alexandra is willing to watch a movie while I collapse in the recliner.  She had a fun morning-she sang loudly in Kindermusik... what a sweetie pie.

Tell me Im not a bad mom!

So lately Alexandra has been having "quiet time" instead of napping. I was on the phone and heard her fussing and went to check on her as soon as I got off the phone. This is what I found. Yipes!

Twin Research

I have learned that having fraternal twins is hereditary- however only through the mother since it is she that ovulates two eggs. Also identical twins are not hereditary- it is an anomaly... weird. And from what I gather- twins in different sacs (as ours are) are likely to be fraternal since all fraternal twins have their own sacs but 25% of identical twins also have their own sacs.
source Wikipedia
Also did you know there is such thing as a Mothers of Twins Club? They have one here. I would really like to get in touch with them. Also we found the most awesome stroller which I am in love with and we found one on Craigslist (ok Amber found it-Thanks Amber!) Want to know how great it is?
Two weeks till we find out the genders... I can't wait. And also for those of you who don't know- twins don't go to 40 weeks- full term is considered 37 weeks. Therefor we can expect some babies in March not April. I would still like to avoid a C-section if possible but twins is a whole new thing so it's totally fine if that is what we need to do.
You have no idea how wierd it is to look at a sonogram and see two babies!!!

They could be indentical- though more likely fraternal

Ok I think we are breathing again. I am soooo grateful for all the support of our friends and family. Seriously, I couldnt ask for a bigger blessing than two babies- and such a wonderful support system. I know we can do it- but only with the help and love of our friends and family. Oh yeah and did I mention- it was God's idea- I am assuming he knows what he is doing:) He blessed us with this support and I know He will continue to help us through.

Twins

Two babies... two babies... two babies....
Maybe tomorrow I can say more. And maybe post an ultrasound. Two babies...

Something I Love About my Daughter

The one I am thinking of today is her eating habits. She loves cucumber and bell peppers, green and red. She will also try many new things. If she is unsure of something she will chew it up or suck on it and then just spit it out if she doesn't like it. Though it is a bit gross sometimes, I respect her willingness to try. She isn't shy about her love to eat either. She grabbed a cheese stick right out of Lora's hand this morning. It was difficult to explain how that is inappropriate.
She had a fun day today, so did I. She spent the morning at Miss Lora's with Cal and Aiden. She LOVES it there! When I drop her off she disappears and doesn't even notice I am not staying. I got to teach an Imagine That class (one of my favorites.. maybe my favorite) then we went to lunch bunch with MOMS club at the mall. It's so nice to spend time with other moms and socialize and let Alexandra wear herself out playing with her friends. Then we had a slow afternoon- Alexandra played with her doll, colored, and watched doggies (Lady and the Tramp) and I cleared out my email- yipes, worked on the budget, did some MOMS club stuff and made dinner. Tonight I get to go to choir practice:) I guess Im in a good mood for some reason... I have to say I LOOOVE this weather! I think tomorrow is a picnic day.

Petting Zoo and ABC's

While Gramma Susie was here we went to Houston to see Uncle Scott (and Sarah and Cocoa) which is one entity in Alexandra's mind. We went to the Houston zoo and had a hot but fun time.

This was taken at Scott's table. After this she repeated the song about 100 times!

Gamma Susie Comes to Town

Gamma Susie came to visit Wed. We suprised her by coming with Lauren to pick her up in Austin. Alexandra has been having a blast playing dress up and hanging out with Gramma. See Flickr for more photos.

Hot Shots Alexandra's First Soccer Practice

She was a star! Running and playing she had a blast and it was a beautiful day for it. Especially since it rained yesterday so there was plenty of mud! I explained that she was now a real soccer player when she fell in the mud, which she did not like. After a while she asked to play at the playground, for a snack, and to be held, but she did really well as you can see.

Our New Home

In April we bought a much anticipated new home which never really got its due. I would like to take you on a little tour in case you can't visit.
As you walk in you are greeted by warm sunlight and plenty of open space. The bar is just to the left of where this picture ends. You can just see the dining room table there.

Then you come into the kitchen/dining area. We liked the width and openness of the kitchen. It makes it a lot easier to cook and keep an eye on the toddler:)This is looking back at the living room. David's dream of a flat screen with no wires has come true. It looks pretty cool if I say so myself and really gives us even more space. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and we just love the neighborhood. I have been woken up in the middle of the night a few times by noisy parties but they usually quiet down. Plus the park is a block away and the hospital is only a few miles away, which is where our new doctor's office is. We love our new home!

Baby Numero Dos

There's a baby in there! We had our first doctor appointment on Monday and it went quite well. I met a new doctor who I liked very much and we confirmed the due date (April 3) and the baby looked great. A strong heart beat is all we can ask at this point. I have been feeling a little better lately- I was feeling very sick. Now it's more the exhaustion that is getting me. I am determined to continue walking 2 miles everyday (almost) and I am trying to get Alexandra out and about.

It has been such a wonder to experience pregnancy a second time. This time I really feel that pregnancy and birth are more of a means to an end rather than the first time when the novelty of the pregnancy kept all my attention. This time Alexandra is constantly on my lap or kissing me or hanging on me to remind me that soon this will all be a memory. I still believe pregnancy and birth are important and defining moments in my life, however I feel much more prepared to handle the struggles and disappointments. I can just hug my little "former pregnancy" and remember that I have a lifetime of joy ahead of me.

Making Time for Play

Today I took Alexandra with the MOMS Club on a Field Trip to the Children's Museum in the Woodlands. It was a nice drive there and Alexandra ate a whole orange at least a cup of blueberries and a few handfuls of Goldfish... sheesh. We listened to Baby Baluga and were happy the whole way there. It was quite overwhelming for her when we got there- so much to see and do and touch she did not want to take the time to have a diaper change! She played cook. As you can see here in the kitchen making macaroni. We also spent a lot of time taking turns playing doctor. She listened very carefully to the heartbeat and looked very carefully while she poked the eyes of her patient.

Last but not least we paid homage to David's favorite store while we were there. She roder the carousel and played in the giant crazy playground and finally we had to call it quits and head home.
And I am exhausted! I have forgotten what it feels like not to be nauseous. I have a half clean house and mostly not clean kitchen, didn't walk today and I have a MOMS Club Board meeting to run tomorrow! And I have choir practice tomorrow night! Yipes! Time for bed.

Adventures in Round Rock

Last night David and I drove to Round Rock to Celebrate my brother's birthday and come get my little girl! I dropped her off on Wed afternoon and I didnt see her for a full 48 hours! That night David and I celebrated our 3rd Wedding anniversary.

The next day of course I didn't know what to do. What a strange experience having all that time to myself! I cleaned and watched movies for the most part. Marley and Me is very sad btw- I was expecting more humor. But all the while Alexandra was having adventures in Round Rock. She went shopping, went to Grandma's school, went bowling- all the ketchup she could eat, with fries incidentally. Went to the car dealership, went to Academy, went fishing!!
Look at that gorgeous hair! She even got to hold the pole while the fishy tugged away. What a blast! She also has fun feeding the fish at Grandma and Grandpa's house- they eat a lot when she is around- but she had never seen one so close up until now.
James brought his dog Kelly to stay and she is a little rambunctious so when she gets in Alexandra's face she says "Knock i' off!" She heard James saying this to Kelly. James also taught her to hold her hands in peace signs and say "whoooo!". Poor Uncle Andrew has had to work a lot! Aunt Amber drove in last night too and the whole crew (minus Philip who also has to work :( ) is here for James' 23rd.
Alexandra had me up at 6:30 but I am caught up on sleep from my vacation. Now Grandpa and Amber are up so I am off duty again:) She had a big bowl of Trix which she picked out for breakfast. Nice to be at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

One and One makes FOUR

Is it a joke? Is it just a cute shirt? No! It's a announcement. We are at six weeks and counting. March 30th 2010! YAY! That's right it says BIG sister.

Jenny's Wedding

On July 12th, 2009 my cousin Jenny got married in Austin. It was a beautiful ceremony and Alexandra was a big fan of the cupcakes! She also enjoyed the mint tea:) It was fun for the rest of us to watch her enjoy playing and exploring the hall and the new foods. I just love her little dress:)

Happy Birthday Alexandra!!!

I can't believe it took me two days and a request from Great Uncle Patrick for me to create a birthday post. I suppose I am still getting used to this blogging stuff. This photo is the 4th of July at the George Bush Library Celebration. That is Elmo on her cheek:)The next one is the pre-birthday hair but. Second hair cut in life. She sat and enjoyed every second. She wanted more hair cut!

Then on her birthday we had a play-date/party. There were many friends from our MOMS Club playgroup and Familia group at the Birthday Party. I think Alexandra was a little overwhelmed but she seemed to have a very fun time. Here she is with her Elmo Cake.

More to come... I would love to post a few videos... We were in Round Rock today for a combined "Ainsworth Grand-Niece" July Birthday Party. She was a little upset at having to share the lime light but the cake made everything worth it. Photos to follow. And the birthday has not ended... we still have to celebrate with the family next weekend. So stay tuned:)

Nap in the Elmo Bed

Well little miss Alexandra has been sleeping every night in her Elmo bed. She hasnt been getting up at all, even in the morning when she will cry until I come to het her. However nap time was another story. Day one I eventually rocked her to sleep and set her in her bed because she was playing in her room for a long time. Day 2 I kept putting her back in her bed and finally just put her mattress back in the crib. Day 3 I tried everything I could think of. Taking away toys, not saying anything just putting her back in the bed, leaving the door open so I could see if she got up (she just got up and closed it). Finally I put her in her crib again. Well apparently she didnt like that. Today I explained to her that if she got out of her bed, I would put her in the crib. "No! Elmo Bed!" Ok, but you have to stay in your bed or I will put you in the crib. I checked on her after 14, 30 and 45 minutes. She was playing in bed the first time. Second time she just looked at me. Last time she was finally sleeping which is when I took this picture. Cozy, huh? I am so proud of her for staying in her bed. Maybe I did check on her more than three times now that I think of it... but it doesnt matter. She did it! And in time to take a good nap:)

Elmo Bed!

Today Alexandra became a big girl! Well in one way at least. We put her bed together, crossed our finders and showed her in. She jumped up and squealed as soon as she saw it! I was so mad I grabbed the still camera instead of the video camera. She just kept saying Elmo's Bed! Elmo's Bed! She hopped right in and pulled the covers over her. She had some trouble winding down after all the excitement but she seemed good with it. She did ask What happened to the bed? I told her All done bed. And she said okay. She is sprawled across her bed now. Hopefully we won't have any problems during the night... we'll see. For now David and I were just so happy to see her so excited!

Everyone has probably given up on me by now but here you go!
So now that summer has start we are full force in the pool zone!  We go at least every other day and its been so much fun!  Yesterday we sat beside the pool munching on sandwiches... life is good.
Today Alexandra saw her first movie in the theater- Charlotte's web.  She sat through about the first hour then got fidgety.  Then she cried that I wanted her to leave- and fussed when we went back in to sit down.  So... we left and she was NOT happy.. "MORE MOVIE!!!"  Hopefully all this crying and screaming is just a phase.

Friday, April 3, 2009

Yesterday was a great day to fly a kite and blow bubbles outside.  There have been many times in the past several days when I said to myself.  Wow I  have to put that on the blog.  But obviously it has been busy.  She identified a triangle and a circle on Tuesday.  She swung from a pole on Wed.
I think she has an uncle to thank for that skill.
Also when we are hanging out around the house she likes to go from room to room with pink baby(I love you! I love you!), Cabbage patch doll, and Elmo.  She lines them up on the couch, sets them in her princess chair, talks to them, puts a blanket over them.  She is very busy and it is soooo cute.  And great for mom 'cause then I have a few minutes to update the ol' blog.
Also I have put covers on the doorknobs... that's right she opens doors.  It actually isn't consistent, she still calls sometimes when she has "locked" herself into a room, but I like knowing she CANNOT get into the bathroom.
Packing has commenced.  I have a stack of packed boxes already in the garage, trying to do a few everyday.

I have been packing and came across my baby book.  What do you think?

Potty Training Victory!

Those of you who were at the Ainsworth house over spring break have seen first hand the frustration of mommy and toddler over the potty.  We bought an Elmo potty seat to go in the potty- which was exciting- until it came to sitting in the potty.  She did not like being "put" on the potty and couldnt sit on it herself even with the help of a stool.  We tried and tried but NO NO NO! was all we got.
But now we are home, back to our regular schedule and normal familiar potty on the ground.  Potty after waking... nothing... potty after breakfast... success! poopoo!  yeah!  then nothing till after lunch! pee pee!  Then before bath time... pee pee again!!  Anytime she said no all I had to say was "rumble rumble rumble"... She absolutely loves her book "Put your left paw in" a jungle hokey pokey... she doesnt want to get off the potty till it is done.
So tomorrow we begin again, but she went to bed early and got a good nap today so I am feeling optimistic.

*cough*

Ok that may have been gross but that is all I seem to be able to do lately.  I can barely talk... argh.  Alergies?  Cold?  who knows except I feel miserable.  It's nice I enjoyed Spring Break but now I have to get better before Monday.
If you want to see Spring Break pics of Alexandra check out our flickr account to the right of this screen.  We got some great park pics on Amber's camera.  We spent Wed and Thurs with Uncle Philip and Aunt Amber.  And poor neglected little baby had an entourage of 8 following her around the park:)
Also, the other party has signed the paperwork for the house so now we are on to Title company and inspections etc.  April 23rd is the closing date so hopefully soon we will be homeowners! Hooray!

"Niiiice!!"

So now whenever Alexandra wants me to do something for her that is what she says.  I am not sure she gets the idea  but it is very cute.  She has also picked up the word "soda". Yipes.
We are excited about having a relaxing "real" 2 day weekend because I have next week off of Kindermusik but I wish the weather wasn't so gross.  That will really limit our activity.  It is so cold and wet!  I don't even want to go outside to get anything.
This may be anticlimactic since I basically already posted that we were going to make an offer.  But today we actually did.  So I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the response.  Will they accept?  Counter?  Reject!!?  Oh, dear I am praying about that.
Also, I have 4 couples who want to learn Billings Ovulation method of NFP!  That may seem like a strange thing to be excited about but I have worked so hard to be a BOM teacher and now I will finally get to share it!  YAY!
Earlier little Alexandra was helping her dad throw water at the wall and laughing histerically when the water went everywhere.  There is also an update to her lullaby preferences.  She figured out that I would sing Twinkle to put her to sleep so she would say no.  So I switched to Baa Baa Black Sheep.  Now she says "Ships! Ships!"  A lot of what she says has an exclamation point.

Our Time

Alexandra and I went to her Our Time class today and once more she has taken a step towards independence.  It may seem small but if feels huge to me.  Our first class she would not walk beside me and cried if I didn't pick her up each time I stood.  She would barely leave my lap, opted not to move her hands to participate and would not go sit on the story blanket to for story-time with the other children.  Today she was singing and clapping and went all by herself to the story blanket where she sat happily all through the story.  I know that if I blink she will be going to class with out me after saying "See ya, Mom."  It is so wonderful to hear her sing and see the joy she gets from the instruments and listening to the music.  There is a part of class where we listen to a sound (a dog barking, a clock ticking, a pig oinking) and now she points out when she hears a bird or a dog.  I try to keep in mind that she may prefer sports or some other activity when she gets older, but I can't help hoping she will have a special place in her heart for music.

Mom and her Coffee

We have had a slow morning and I have managed to motivate myself to do some laundry and housework. Generally I try to keep busy with playdates and such so that I can avoid... I mean, so I am too busy, to work on that stuff.  As I was working I thought a cup of coffee would be good.  As I pulled out the coffeemaker my mom bought when she came to help me take care of a newborn Alexandra, I was suddenly nastalgic for those days with my mommy.  Since July 07  more and more I have found myself admiring and attempting to emulate my mother's grace and productivity.  She does so much so well and I hope I can be a little like that.  So even if I can only copy her cup of coffee in the morning in my work out clothes with a visor on, I will enjoy immitating Mom.  And as I write, Alexandra is trying on my shoes.

Mondays

Mondays have been notorious in our families since September of 2007 when I went back to teach Kindermusik and  baby was home alone with Daddy.  Now it has become tiring for Daddy but also a fun time that baby and Daddy can spend together playing, going to the park, and otherwise being naughty (ice cream).  Today he took her to the Dr. Office to see about a concerning "diaper rash" that looked like more than a diaper rash.  It turned out that our doctor also uses cloth diapers and had seen this exact thing before.  So now we have a prescription and a new way to clean diapers and it should be better in no time.
Also you may or may not have heard that my car is having trouble.  That is to say... it won't start.  When I turn the ignition, nothing happens.  Nothing at all.  Since we really only need one car we have just been using David's and putting off fixing mine.  We will get on it this week.
Also, no updates on the house except that we compared rates with a mortgage lender and she said the deal we have sounds great.  Then we talked finally (he was not responding to calls) to our guy and it looks like we are pretty good to go:)  So hopefully we will be making an offer tomorrow.
At bedtime she was so good.  I just laid her in her bed and said goodnight.  Havent heard from her since.  I guess a good nap helps.

Lullaby

I have started singing Alexandra "the angel song" every night while I rock her right before I lay her in bed.  But lately as soon as I sing "Darkness coveeeers,  aaaaall the grooooound..."  she starts opening and closing a fist and saying "tinkle! tinkle"  she means Twinkle Twinkle.  As long as I sing this song and this song only she is happy.  But if I stray, she will once again say Tinkle! Tinkle!  Very cute, but I do get a little tired of that song.  Also I told her no to "nursie"  and she was cool with it.  So I am kind of hoping that may stick.  She has also been singing in the car with mother duck says "quack quack quack quack!"  She loves to point out when she hears a dog bark or birds sining (she signs both of these also).  Maybe tomorrow at bed time I will switch to baa baa black sheep and see what she thinks of that :)

Mass with a Toddler

Mass with a toddler is a whole different experience.  Many times it is more like being at the park and chasing Alexandra around for an hour than it is like praying in a church. At least at the park I can sit down for a few minutes.  Last week Alexandra went to the nursery for the first time.  I bit the bullet and left even though she was upset.  Of course shortly after that she was fine.  This week there was no nursery.  Argh.  Just when I was getting ready to actually use it!  Alexandra would be so loud and I said "We have to be quiet"  she would smile and put her finger to her mouth and say very loudly "SSSSHHHHH!"  What can I do.  We got through it.

House Finalist

Vienna is our finalist!  We are hoping to get them to come down on the price (of course) but we love the location and the layout and the price.  So here we go with the fun drama of making an offer.  We actually looked at several houses today(our fourth and hopefully final trip) and some of them were quite nice.  Alexandra checked every closet and drawer.  We weighed the pros and cons of each but in the end it was clear that some each one was not for us and Vienna has so many nice things.  It has a sprinkler system, gutters, right by the park, carpeted floors (easier on children when they fall), no fire place (nothing for children to play with), a nice place to put electronics for TV out of site(very important to David), and a nice back yard.  My only complaint is no bathtub in the master bath, but that is certainly not a deal breaker- it does have double sinks:)  It is just the right size for us.  I wish we could move in today!  Beer and pizza available for the moving crew... send a resume...jk.

Weird Baby Awsome Husband

Well not only does Alexandra like to eat peppers, cucumbers, and broccoli now add spinach spring mix salad to the list.  She saw me eating it and demanded to have some.  It had balsamic vinegar and olive oil on it.  She ate what was left then asked for more!  Strange kid, but at least it is a healthy habit.  This morning she downed an apple and some oatmeal.  She is always my good eater:)
As for my husband... well, he let me sleep in! And when I got up the kitchen (where I had left a huge mess) and the playroom were spotless!  He must have been working all morning.  Wow... I am sooo lucky.
We are going house hunting again this morning... Please God bring us to the right house and open our eyes to see it.

The Joy of "Staying at Home"

This was Alexandra having pizza at Sams.  Couldnt get her to smile...
It has been a fun day, Kindermusik then Sam's then the park for a play-date but the illusive nap time has become nonexistent.  It seems the last few days we read book and rock and sing and I will lay her in her crib but she doesn't sleep.  She was in there for an hour fussing on and off.  After that I saw no point in leaving her in there.  I have no clue why, but that means I am in for a fussy afternoon/evening.  If we get out of the house that always helps and we have plenty of blueberries.  My "during nap time"  to-do list will have to wait, and my list of "things to do with Alexandra" will take priority.  Thank God the weather is nice.
Say a little prayer that this weekend we will find THE house.

Beautiful Day

Well our good friends the Clements are moving away.  I don't know what we will do without them.  Alexandra has had such fun playing with her friend Karis who is about a week older.  And I of course will miss her mom dearly.  I am glad that we will be moving soon, hopefully moving closer to other friends and leaving behind the reminder of their absence.  Fortunately they will live close to my sister, Amber, so perhaps I will get to see them again soon.
We drove and looked at some houses too.  I had no idea how frustrating the process of buying a house would be.  I thought the right one would be apparent but that is far from our experience.  I think many of them will work great for us and of course my husband feels that none of them are quite right.  Hopefully soon one will fit just right.
And although it is late, now Alexandra is  napping.  It's amazing how she fights sleep even when she is exhausted.  Hopefully we can get back to our schedule and it will be easier on her.  I imagine I will miss these quiet moments one day when we have a second  child, God willing.  So maybe I will lay down for a little while.

Creating a family Blog

Of course I don't really expect anyone to look at this blog;)  however some moms have cool blogs for their families and I thought it might be fun.  It has already been compared to the pre Dunder-Infinity Office Website (coming in 2007)  but I am still hopeful.  I mean come on... there are several cute stories everyday about stuff Alexandra did that inquiring minds would like to know about.  And of course the courageous and admirable ragamuffin Sir David and his adventures in the Kingdom of College Station.  Though I probably cannot share his debacles here most of the time, perhaps I could share an occasional silly story.
In any case if anyone is out there... welcome.  I hope you will have fun seeing what our family is up to.
